Founded in January 2024, Compliment Magazine gives readers an online escape from clickbait and overall negative news. From books you need to read to fierce female rappers breaking music records, praising athletes for their game performances (and off-the-field or court contributions), real movie reviews, products we use that actually work, hacks, and more, you’ll find yourself visiting the website every day.
Based in Chicago, Illinois, we also keep residents and tourists in the loop about city happenings, from creator-focused events to new restaurants, concerts, and more.
Since our creator/founder, Lashaunta, is obsessed with learning about African American actors, musicians, comedians, and overall legends from the ’50s to ’90s, we also share stories about those who paved the way for our faves to exist and thrive in various industries today.

Lashaunta Moore is a journalist and digital content producer. As an undergraduate, she launched a blog focused on college and lifestyle topics. In 2024, she turned that blog into Compliment to build a website focused on what she loves: books, nostalgia, music, film/tv, sports, and lifestyle.
She also wanted to create a site free of clickbait.
