Je’Caryous Johnson’s Games Women Play is set to launch its tour in Washington, D.C., on February 13—and no, we’re not playing.
The highly anticipated stage play features Carl Payne, who’s also making his theater directorial debut, alongside Jill Marie Jones. Flex Alexander, Demetria McKinney, Brian J. White, Claudia Jordan, Chico Bean, and April Jones complete the cast.
Payne (Caleb Peterson) is a charming, successful financial advisor. Jones (Paisley Terrell) is his fiancée and every man’s dream. However, this isn’t your typical “boy meets girl, happily ever after” love story—games are being played.
What is Je’Caryous Johnson’s Games Women Play about?
Marriage is every couple’s goal. On a live podcast, Caleb proposes and drops a prenup bombshell. This interrupts the couple’s picture-perfect love life, which “spirals into a game of emotional tug-of-war.”

According to the show’s description, there’s usually only one winner in a game that takes all. Or, with Caleb and Paisley, will there be a tie?
“As tensions rise, the games intensify. Paisley wrestles with her desire for security and her commitment to love. Caleb tries to protect his heart and his fortune, and a cast of unforgettable characters—like Trina, Paisley’s sassy and fiercely loyal best friend, and Damon (Chico Bean), Caleb’s hilarious, scheme-loving brother—add to the chaos.”
The description also says, “To make things even messier, Paisley’s ex, Bobby Tremaine (Brian J. White), resurfaces with big money moves and even bigger surprises, forcing her to make the ultimate choice: follow her heart or play to win?”
What’s the schedule?
After concluding its Washington shows, Games Women Play will visit Norfolk, Houston, Los Angeles, Oakland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago, St. Louis, Greensboro, Atlanta, and Charlotte (in that order).
If you’re in Chicago, you have two chances to see the production. The two shows will be held at the Arie Crown Theater on May 10 at 3 PM and 8 PM.
