The Wayans Bros. is a must-watch sitcom from the ’90s that showcases Shawn and Marlon Wayans’ unique comedic genius.
The show follows Shawn and Marlon Williams, two brothers who couldn’t be more different. Shawn is the responsible ladies’ man, while Marlon is the carefree jokester. Together, they live in an apartment and constantly find themselves in hilarious situations, annoying their father, Pops, who owns a diner in the Neidermeyer building. (don’t ask what’s in Pops’ chili.)
Shawn runs a newsstand, and Marlon, an aspiring actor, “helps” out while pursuing his dreams. Their friend Dee, the building’s security guard, often gets caught up in their antics, as does Pops.
Over its five seasons, The Wayans Bros. was, and still is, a source of laughter and entertainment for fans. The series follows the brothers and their father as they navigate life, sprinkling it with love, schemes, lessons, and, most importantly, fun times with friends. Here are five episodes that are guaranteed to have you laughing out loud.
5 Hilarious The Wayans Bros. Episodes That You Need To Watch
“The Return of the Temptones” – S3. E9
When Pops’ love goes “bang, bang, bang,” run for cover! The brothers, learning about their dad’s past as a musician, make a heartfelt attempt to cheer him up with a reunion. As Pops’ old bandmates reunite, they decide to kick it like old times, but they’re quickly reminded of why they broke up in the first place.
“I Do…” – S3. E18
Marlon’s got a girl! It’s a real one, not the blow-up doll. Things are going well until Marlon finds out his woman is the neighborhood bully’s sister. Bernie Mac is “Shank,” and he forces Marlon to take the next step with his sibling.
“The Black Widower” – S3. E20
Granny needs love, too! Shawn and Marlon grow tired of their Grandma’s false alarm attempts. She wants them to spend more time with her because she’s lonely, but she needs a man. When she does find a lover, Fred, the boys think he’s The Black Widower! Ja’Net DuBois guest stars.
“Can I Get A Witness?” – S4. E9
A trip to the bank turns into Marlon becoming a witness of a robbery. Witness protection is supposed to be a safe space, right? Not with Dee, T.C. and Pops around.
“Misery” – S5. E9
Every actor loves to hear, “I’m your biggest fan,” except when it comes from a crazy fan. Marlon is on the rise, which means the girls are shooting their shots. A fan writes him a letter, including a photo (catfish) and her address. Marlon goes to visit and ends up in a scary situation. Kim Whitley guest stars.
