One of the most influential hip-hop artists is adding another honor to her successful career. Cardi B, known for her authenticity, entered the music industry with a pen, paper, and one dream. She aimed to dominate hip-hop as her true self, and that’s exactly what the artist did.
From numerous no. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart to a historic debut album and more, the New York native accomplished every goal she set for herself while a cast member on the reality TV series Love & Hip Hop New York.
Fans witnessed her rise from an aspiring artist to one of the most successful female rappers in history. Now she’s collecting honors and awards like infinity stones. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) Rhythm & Soul revealed that they’re honoring the multi-platinum superstar at the 2025 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards.
Cardi will attend the ceremony in Los Angeles on June 8 to accept the distinguished ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award.
What is the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards? Who else is attending?
ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards is an annual private, invite-only event. It celebrates ASCAP’s top music creators at the intersection of music, art, and culture. This year, hip hop royalty DJ Spinderella will be the creative mind behind the music (the event DJ).
According to the official press release, Cardi B, Mustard, DJ Spinderella, Jermaine Dupri, Jeremih, and Tee Grizzley will attend. Jimmy Jam, Siedah Garrett, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, Warryn Campbell, Mona Scott Young, and more are too.
It’ll be at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills.
Cardi B’s rise is crucial for aspiring rappers to see
Cardi B, a trailblazer in the music industry, has been a voice of the culture since her breakthrough single “Bodak Yellow.” With the song, she made history as the first female rapper to reach no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with a solo single since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
Her ‘little fifteen minutes’ lasted longer than naysayers expected, as her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, had the largest female rap streaming week of all time and sold 255,000 album-equivalent units.
The “Up” artist also snagged multiple diamond singles, was the first solo female artist in history to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, made film appearances, started businesses, and so much more, all while keeping the same personality. Her wins are imperative for others, especially artists, to witness. She is proof that you can win by being yourself.
