I grew up in Chicago, so I know what the city has to offer. There’s much more here than what you see in the news. We’re a welcoming place, rich with diverse cultures, great food, a beautiful downtown, historic neighborhoods, and people bold enough to follow their dreams.
Disclosure: I received four tickets to experience Flyover for free, which included Believe Chicago (2) and the Canadian Rockies (2).
On Saturday, March 28, I headed downtown for Flyover’s Believe Chicago immersive ride. It’s a unique experience that highlights famous sights and shares stories from locals who represent the city.
Flyover is right across from the Children’s Museum, inside Navy Pier, where I spent many childhood birthdays. I knew my family would enjoy this, so we made it a family day, and I bought an extra ticket for my sister.
Believe Chicago lets you step into a world you can only find here.
When we got there, the staff was friendly and quickly scanned our tickets. We took a photo, which we later bought along with some keychains. Then we waited for a short time in a themed area that showed facts and videos about Chicago.
We watched a six-minute video that showed the city’s strength, hard work, and creativity. After a short safety video, we sat in the flight-motion seats and buckled up.
Suddenly, the seats began to move, and I felt like I was flying over Chicago. I could smell delicious food, feel the cool downtown breeze, hear lively music, and even pass through mist that refreshed my skin as we flew over Lake Michigan and popular spots. The wraparound screen and real-life special effects made it all feel real.
The whole experience was beautiful, uplifting, and even better than I expected.

I haven’t been to Canada yet, but Flyover’s Canadian Rockies experience made it feel like I could reach out and touch the mountains. I also bought another ticket so my sister could join. We didn’t know much about the Rockies before, but we left wanting to learn more.
