Ciara knows how taking risks leads to the biggest wins. She has sold millions of records over more than two decades and showcased her acting skills in movies like Mama, I Want to Sing! and the 2023 remake of The Color Purple. Most recently, she brought her drive to win to the children’s beverage market as co-owner and co-founder of FROSH, which sold out its first batch with three flavors: Mighty Apple, Tropic Blast, and Power Punch.
In our interview, Ciara discusses the brand’s success, how FROSH pairs with lunches, how being a parent inspired her to enter the industry, the taste tests with her children, and what’s next. While celebrities create brands all the time, through the singer’s responses, I could tell her heart is truly set on FROSH becoming that “win-win” beverage for children and parents.
Lashaunta Moore: As FROSH’s co-owner and co-founder, how did it feel to sell out the first batch? Did you anticipate such a strong response?
Ciara: When we first envisioned FROSH, it started from a very personal place. I knew deep down that we were onto something truly special because my own kids became our toughest critics and, ultimately, our biggest fans before we even officially launched. Seeing them completely obsessed with it gave me the ultimate confidence boost. Still, when you pour your heart, soul, and endless late nights into building a brand from scratch, you can’t help but feel a little vulnerable putting it out into the world. But seeing that first batch completely sell out? It was entirely surreal. Feeling that immediate wave of trust and support from other families was a next-level moment that I’ll never forget. It validated every single risk we took.

What makes FROSH an ideal beverage to pair with children’s lunches?
Ciara: Any parent knows that the daily school lunch prep is a high-stakes mission. You’re constantly playing this game of tug-of-war between what is actually good for your kids and what they will actually consume. I wanted to create a drink that completely eliminated that daily guesswork. Something I could pop into a lunchbox and feel 100% confident about. FROSH is the ultimate pairing because it solves that parental dilemma beautifully. It delivers the kind of clean, substantive benefits kids need. Like high-quality protein to keep them full, without sacrificing an ounce of flavor. It gives parents that ultimate peace of mind, while the kids just see it as this fun, delicious treat waiting for them at the cafeteria table. It turns lunchbox duty from a chore into a win-win.
As a Grammy award-winning singer, dancer, actress, and fashion icon, you have your hand in just about everything. What inspired you to enter the children’s beverage market?
Ciara: It’s an honor to be able to work across so many different creative industries, but no matter how busy things get, everything always comes back to family. Becoming a parent changes your entire DNA and completely shifts your priorities. You start looking at the world through the lens of what you’re putting into your children’s bodies and the future you’re building for them.
The inspiration for FROSH really came out of my own daily reality as a mom. I was on a continuous mission to find convenient, high-quality drinks for my kids that I could actually feel good about serving. It felt like a constant compromise between vibrant, yummy flavors that kids crave and the actual nutritional value they need. When I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I decided we needed to build it ourselves alongside the incredible team at VO/D. For me, entering this space is one of the most rewarding chapters yet, because it allows me to take the platform I’ve been blessed with and use it to support other families on their wellness journeys.

With Mighty Apple, Tropic Blast, and Power Punch as initial flavors, what new options can consumers look forward to?
Ciara: Mighty Apple, Tropic Blast, and Power Punch were such a blast to create, but they are truly just the beginning of the FROSH journey. We are constantly in the lab experimenting with new flavor profiles and innovations. The taste tests with my kids are a serious business! While I can’t share exactly what’s next for FROSH just yet, I can promise you that we’re working on some incredibly delicious, nostalgic and refreshing combinations. We want to keep surprising both parents and kids, so you can absolutely expect us to keep bringing that same fun, vibrant, and fresh energy with every new drop.
