I developed a passion for supporting women’s basketball a few years ago. Though, I admired stars like Lisa Leslie well before watching a professional game. Growing up, I’d see WNBA legends pop up on sitcoms like Martin and Sister, Sister. They always appeared as themselves, gracing the screen in a way only a GOAT hooper could.

When I saw that the WNBA and the WNBPA reached a tentative verbal agreement for a new CBA (collective bargaining agreement), I couldn’t stop smiling. According to Front Office Sports, a player vote will finalize and approve the term sheet. Yet, training camp will begin on April 19.

With approximately 70 unrestricted free agents, I look forward to seeing veteran players secure maximum contracts. My fingers are crossed that some real hoopers find their way to my favorite team, the Chicago Sky, to help Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, and Hailey Van Lith get back to the winning culture they’re used to.

Regular season games, All-Star, Playoffs: The 2026 WNBA season is on the way

After months of uncertainty, women’s basketball fans can now look forward to the 2026 season. While I supported the players regardless of the outcome, I am eager to see which team will become champions. Will a new contender emerge, or will A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces maintain their dominance?

watched the Chicago Sky play last season, and I hope head coach Tyler Marsh implements a new strategy in his second year coaching the team. We need strong additions to the roster to truly be competitive and not finish last in the Eastern Conference again.

The 2026 schedule was released a few weeks ago, and I saw that there will be two games at the United Center again, one against the Aces and the other against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Those games will most likely be packed with fans of each team, which means they need to put on a show. The Sky needs to elevate, and I have faith that they will.
