Doechii followed her dreams and stood on business—now she’s living the life of a rising superstar.
The newly Grammy-award-winning rapper is Billboard Women in Music’s 2025 Woman of the Year. She will receive the honor at the annual event on Saturday, March 29, at YouTube Theater at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California.
In 2023, the Alligator Bites Never Heal artist won the Rising Star award at the Billboard Women in Music event. According to Billboard, Doechii is the third rising star to progress to Woman of the Year.
It’s a testament to her years of being in nonstop grind mode.

The Tampa, Florida native started writing poetry in high school. By 2014, she had used that skill to write lyrics and make music. Doechii’s music began making its rounds on social media in 2019. Her rise happened gradually, and she performed at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards and opened for SZA the same year.
In 2022, her popular single “Crazy” earned a UK Music Video Award for Best Choreography in a Video. Between 2022 and 2024, Doechii snagged award nominations at the Soul Train Music Awards, NAACP Image Awards, MTV Music Video Awards, and more.
