Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson had a stellar 2023 season.
His outstanding performance even led to the team acknowledging his talent with a significant contract extension, a move that solidified Johnson’s position as one of the highest-paid CBs in the league.
So why wasn’t he included on this year’s NFL Top 100 list? We’re going with the idea that Bears players have a history of being snubbed. (If you’re a Bears fan, you know there’s some truth to this. Although defensive end Montez Sweat did snag the No. 82 spot.)
However, some might say that since the NFL is filled with the best football players in the nation, making the list takes more than one exceptional season.
Johnson made a statement last season, proving he could play the game at a high level. The Fresno native bet on himself and came out victorious. With high expectations, Johnson aims to pick up where he left off, and there’s no doubt he will.
Bears fans expect a lot out of this year’s team, especially with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams leading the pack. With the help of a rising defense and the offseason additions (WR Keenan Allen, RB D’Andre Swift, etc.), the league is on notice!
Here’s why Jaylon Johnson should’ve made the NFL Top 100
He has an 89 Overall Madden ’25 rating.
The rating was released after the NFL Top 100 was revealed, but this is just more proof that he should’ve been included.
Johnson had 4 INTs, including one pick-six.
Johnson almost had six INTs, but two were dropped. Either way, having four with a pick-six is still worthy of a Top 100 spot.
Second-team All-Pro and first-time Pro Bowler
The honors kept coming for Johnson when he concluded the best season of his career.
Next year, watch out; Johnson might be in the top 25 of the players-voted NFL Top 100.
