Justin Fields Signs with the New York Jets

Justin Fields knows firsthand the ups and downs of the life of an athlete in the National Football League (NFL). Luckily for the newly turned 26 year old, his talent has kept him in the league through lots of uncertainty. Now, the young quarterback is getting a fresh start with the New York Jets.

According to the Jet’s official website, Fields and the team made it official on March 13, 2025, with a two-year $40 million deal ($30 million guaranteed). The Kennesaw, Georgia native tested free agency after a year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the Steelers reportedly made Justin an offer, he felt like the Jets would give him the best opportunity to be QB1.

A leader and true competitor, Justin Fields went 4-2 as the Steelers starting quarterback during the 2024 season. However, the Steelers chose to start Russell Wilson once he got healthy, leaving Fields to barely get playing time.

As a result, he went where he’d get the best chance to prove he has what it takes to lead a team (as he’s shown as the QB for the Chicago Bears for three years).

With the right team, Justin Fields will succeed

As one of the greatest running quarterbacks in NFL history, Justin Fields will thrive with the right team. At 6-3, 227 lbs, the young guy has shown his ability to make plays with and without offensive weapons.

In 2022, he rushed for 1,143 yards, becoming the second-highest for a QB in NFL history behind Ravens’ Lamar Jackson. A year later, in 2023, JF reached a career-high in yards (2,562). (6,674 with the Chicago Bears overall.)

The former Ohio State quarterback never once pointed a finger during his challenging time with the Bears. He was always the last on the field during practice and watching film to determine what he could do better.

His teammates adored him and his leadership, and Fields always found ways to give back to Chicago communities in need. We have no doubt that he’ll do the same with the New York Jets.

And we’ll be rooting for him every Sunday starting in September. Congrats, Justin!
