Angel Reese earns first career triple-double

Angle Reese has rightfully earned the title “Double-Double Barbie.” She etched her name in WNBA history in her rookie year, holding the record for most consecutive double-doubles in a single season (15). She is also the fastest player to reach 20 and 30 career double-doubles. Now, she’s adding being the second-youngest in WNBA history to achieve a triple-double to her list of early career accomplishments.

On Sunday, June 15, the Chicago Sky and the Connecticut Sun clashed in an entertaining early game. The Sun started strong, scoring 16 points, but the Sky was on their heels with 14 points in the first quarter. The second quarter saw Chicago stepping up their game, playing with an unmatched force that out-scored the Sun, leading to a well-needed 78-66 victory.

Reese’s dominant performance was vital in securing the win; she scored 11 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

Angel Reese is the first Sky player to snag a triple-double since 2023.

Only four players have had triple-doubles in Sky franchise history: Courtney Vandersloot (2018, 2021), Candace Parker (2022), Courtney Williams (2023), and now Angel Reese (2025).

How the Chicago Sky was able to get their third win of the season

Things are still coming together for the Sky, which has a new team and coaching staff. While their current record is 3-7, the team has shown signs of improvement, with the win against the Sun proving that the skills are there.

While forward Marina Mabrey (22 points) and center Tina Charles (19 points) combined for over half of Connecticut’s total points, they were no match for the Sky’s team effort. Below are Chicago’s top scorers of the game:

H. Van Lith: 16 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist (the rookie’s most points in a game)

A. Reese: 11 points, 13 rebounds, 11 assists

K. Nurse: 11 points, 2 rebounds

K. Cardoso: 10 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist

A. Atkins: 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
