BALDY, the short independent comedy film written by Melvin Taylor II, continues to shine during film festival season with over 20 selections. Tackling hair loss in a comical manner, it follows Travis (played by Taylor II) as he prepares for his birthday.
While his friends are ecstatic about celebrating their guy, Travis is feeling a bit insecure about his hair. In the official trailer, the character travels to Midtown in New York to see his friend’s barber. Before going, he complains about how far it is, and his friend replies, “Not farther than your lining.”
Viewers then see Travis figuring out ways to embrace his new reality, becoming a confident version of himself while dating, which gives him “a chance to redefine” who he is, and he’s taking notes.

The Chicago Native and NYC-based executive producer and writer took a step into the world of Travis personally. During an interview where the cast discussed their characters, Taylor II said his character is “an even more insecure version” of his past self.
“In terms of Travis, I think this would have just been an even more insecure version of myself back when I was going through balding, and it was just like bad, bad. “
Other characters and cast members include Sam DeLeon as Brian, Roodlyne Woods as Chelsi, Lauren Mayo as Sydney, Saint Aubyn as Reggie, and more. BALDY is supported by Stay Taylor’d Productions and was filmed in the heart of NYC. Eddie Griffith served as the director.
