There’s a new sports docuseries to watch, and it’s highlighting the New York Jets.
The Home Team: New York Jets is a six-part documentary series that debuted on Prime Video on August 21. It’s presented by Prime Video Sports and Skydance Sports, in association with NFL Films. It follows six of the players and their partners, giving insight into life beyond what we see on game days.
Players (and their significant others) that Jets fans will see in this production are Quinnen & Maranda Williams; Alijah & Jessie Vera-Tucker; Allen Lazard & Camila Escribens; Tyler & Scottie Conklin; Chuck & Aysha Clark; and C.J. Mosley & Jamie Reiff.
What will The Home Team: New York Jets show?
Viewers will see the raw, emotional journey of the six players throughout the 2024 regular season. It begins with the Monday Night Football season opener against the San Francisco 49ers. It’ll end with the season finale at home against the Miami Dolphins. The press release states, “From business endeavors to baby showers to family reunions, The Home Team: NY Jets will take viewers inside the professional and personal lives of these diverse, loveable couples, in order to show how family makes football possible.”
Sports docu-series have become a way to remind fans/viewers that players are more than athletes
We often hear from WAGs, a term that refers to the wives and girlfriends of professional athletes, that their lives aren’t just glitz and glam. Beyond the bright stadium lights, massive contracts, and household names are men living out their dreams and taking care of the ones they love.
A sports documentary series reveals a different side to these beloved players. They are not just the stars we see on game nights, but also husbands, fathers, sons, and grandsons. Their families are there every day, supporting them and helping them recover from the physical toll of their games.
These productions show what people often forget: athletes have feelings too and go through challenging moments just like everyone else.
