The Deliverance has taken the internet by storm since its release on Netflix on August 30, sparking various viral clips of the movie.

Directed by Lee Daniels, the film is based on a true story about an Indiana family who discover strange, demonic occurrences in their home. The occurrences not only convince them but also the entire community that the house is a portal to hell.

The film’s journey began in 2022, with Daniels at the helm. The initial cast, a powerhouse of talent including Andra Day, Octavia Spencer, Glenn Close, Rob Morgan, Caleb McLaughlin, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, was set. However, just before the production kicked off in Pittsburgh, Academy Award winner Mo’Nique stepped in to portray Cynthia Henry, a Department of Child Services worker, replacing Octavia Spencer.

The Deliverance is taking social media by storm.

Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, and others also star in the hour-and-a-half film. After its August 16 release in select theaters, The Deliverance made its way to Netflix, where it’s currently topping the streaming service’s charts.

Since its Netflix release, The Deliverance has been a hot topic on social media. Viewers are actively participating in the conversation, sharing their favorite scenes and even cautioning others not to watch it alone.

Netflix found itself in a fierce bidding war with other production companies and streaming services over the rights to the film before eventually snagging it.
