WATCH: Prime Video releases teaser trailer for Saquon Barkley feature-length documentary

Saquon documentary

On Wednesday (September 3), Prime Video announced that the feature-length documentary, Saquon, will premiere on the streaming service on October 9. It follows star Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s journey to Super Bowl Champion.

The release coincides with the Eagles’ matchup against NFC East division rival the New York Giants, Barkley’s former team. Prime Video also released a teaser trailer showing the athlete’s NFL journey from his point of view. It features footage that he used as his “diary” and “therapy.”

From wanting to be a New York Giant for life to signing with the Eagles, eclipsing 2,000 rushing yards, and more, Saquon takes viewers into the personal life of the 2025 ESPY Best NFL Player.

What can fans expect from ‘Saquon’?

According to a press release, the documentary will delve into the star running back’s personal and professional life. The 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year was hopeful of an extension with the Giants. Instead, he made history, winning a Super Bowl in his first year with the Eagles. These moments, and more, were captured through intimate footage filmed over a five-year period. The release states:

“This feature-length documentary takes viewers inside the locker room to witness firsthand how one of the NFL’s most electric running backs navigated his career’s most challenging chapter—methodically battling back from ACL surgery with the same explosive power that defines his playing style, while enduring tense contract negotiations with the team that drafted him, ultimately leading him to a bitter division rival. But the heart of this film beats strongest away from the stadium, where Saquon’s identity as a father, husband, and friend reveals a man whose priorities transcend yardage and contracts.”

Prime Video Sports, Skydance Sports, and Expanded Media presents Saquon. NFL Films Productions, LBI, and Vision26 Studios produces the project. Martin Scorsese (GoodfellasThe Wolf of Wall Street) serves as executive producer.

Barkley’s focus on proving to himself that he has what it takes to win in all areas

It’s easy to focus on proving others wrong. Yet, the real work and progress come from showing yourself that everything you’ve ever dreamed of is attainable. Even through unexpected storms. Saquon Barkley’s journey to becoming a Super Bowl champion was met with challenges. It all began with leaving the team that drafted him.

While he could’ve chosen to be negative and bash the New York organization for not valuing him, Barkley decided to keep his head held high and focus on the future.
